SMS templates are an efficient way to save frequently sent SMS messages to be reused without rewriting them each time. Create them yourself or ask Occy AI to generate options for you!
Find out how in our demo or the step-by-step written instructions below.

Accessing SMS Templates
Access the SMS templates section by choosing Settings from the main menu, then Templates and SMS.
If you have existing SMS templates, they will appear here. Templates are organised into two tabs - All and Drafts.
Use the search bar to quickly find specific templates and customise what information you see and the order in which it is displayed with the Sort By and Column Modifier buttons.
The templates list displays the following information by default:
- Template name
- Updated On (when the template was lasted edited)
- Created On (when the template was originally created)
- Edit and delete icons in the Actions column
Creating SMS Templates
Create a new SMS template by clicking the Create New Template button at the top of the section.
Alternatively, click the dropdown arrow attached to the button to choose whether to create a new template or duplicate an existing template.
Creating a New Template
When creating a new template, a blank template will appear with the following sections to complete:
- Template name: This is the name of the template that will show when choosing a template to use from the list
- Reference: This is an optional internal reference field
- Message body: This is where you add your SMS message
Note: Each text message is limited to 160 characters, and messages exceeding the character count will incur additional SMS credits. SMS bundles and top-ups can be managed in the Subscription Hub. If using shortcodes (such as Candidate_Name), please consider that the character count will vary by SMS.
- Shortcodes: You can use shortcodes to add personalised information to your SMS; this includes links to forms and candidate information such as their name or the job that they have applied to.
Note: You can find more information on Shortcodes here: Shortcodes.
- Once you have created your template, don't forget to click Save or Save as Draft.
Duplicating an Existing Template
If duplicating an existing template, you will be prompted to choose a template from the list and select Duplicate.
The form above will appear with the information from the existing form populated into the boxes; you can now edit any details before saving the new template.
